দিনাজপুর থেকে সিদ্দিক হোসেন : পঞ্চম উপজেলা পরিষদ নির্বাচনে চেয়ারম্যান পদে দিনাজপুরের ১৩টি উপজেলা থেকে আওয়ামী লীগের নৌকা প্রতীক নিয়ে নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন ৮ জন। এর মধ্যে বিনা প্রতিদ্বন্ধীতায় বিজয়ী হয়েছেন ৪ জন। আওয়ামী লীগের বিদ্রোহী প্রার্থী হিসেবে নির্বাচনে অংশ নিয়ে বিজয়ী হয়েছেন ৪ জন এবং জাতীয় পার্টি থেকে ১ জন চেয়ারম্যান পদে নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন। চেয়ারম্যান পদে আওয়ামী লীগ মনোনীত বিজয়ীরা হলেন- বীরগঞ্জ উপজেলা থেকে নৌকা প্রতীকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সদস্য মো. আমিনুল ইসলাম, বিরল উপজেলা থেকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক এ কে এম মোস্তাফিজুর রহমান, ফুলবাড়ি উপজেলা থেকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক আতাউর রহমান মিল্টন, নবাবগঞ্জ উপজেলা থেকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক আতাউর রহমান। এ ছাড়াও নৌকা প্রতীক নিয়ে বিনা প্রতিদ্বন্ধীতায় নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন দিনাজপুর সদর উপজেলা থেকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি ইমদাদ সরকার, পার্বতীপুর উপজেলা থেকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি হাফিজুর রহমান প্রামানিক, ঘোড়াঘাট উপজেলা থেকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি আব্দুর রাফে খন্দকার এবং হাকিমপুর উপজেলা থেকে পৌর আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি হারুন উর রশিদ। আওয়ামী লীগের নৌকা প্রতীক না পেয়ে নির্বাচনে অংশ নেয়া আওয়ামী লীগের বিদ্রোহী প্রার্থীদের মধ্যে বিজয়ী হয়েছেন খানসামা উপজেলা থেকে মোটরসাইকেল প্রতীকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাবেক সাধারণ সম্পাদক আবু হাতেম, চিরিরবন্দর উপজেলা থেকে আনারস প্রতীকে জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের বন ও পরিবেশ বিষয়ক সম্পাদক তারিকুল ইসলাম তারিক, বিরামপুর উপজেলা থেকে আনারস প্রতীকে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক খাইরুল আলম রাজু এবং কাহারোল উপজেলা থেকে মোটর সাইকেল প্রতীকে বিজয়ী হয়েছেন জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের উপদেষ্টামন্ডলীর সদস্য আব্দুল মালেক সরকার। এদিকে জাতীয় পার্টির মনোনীত প্রার্থী লাঙ্গল প্রতীক নিয়ে বোচাগঞ্জ উপজেলা থেকে চেয়ারম্যান নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন অ্যাড. জুলফিকার আলী।
